Some images of goodies I've been making with my stunning model Fleur (Pop) to help. I'm making up signage for my 'mushroom lane' (that's my label for the kids goodies I make) stand in the up coming craft fair. As you can see I'm not the worlds greatest photographer! But hey

ATC's and treasure

A couple of my latest ATC's for a swap, I wanted a New Zealand theme. The one on the left is a quirky magazine with a feather boarder. The Maori decorate beautiful hand woven cloaks with feathers from native birds. Its a real honor to wear one.

The second is an adaptation of two Maori myths. The Maori word for moon is Marama and there is a story about a Woman called Rona, who went to collect some water from the local spring guided by the light of the moon, however Rona trips as the moon sneaks behind a cloud. Feeling wild in her agony, Rona curses at the moon, to which she overhears and Scoops her up. Rona tryed to resist the moon grabbing at the trees..but to no avail. She can still be seen when the moon is full, Rona and the Ngaio tree.

The second story is of creation.

In the beginning was Te Kore, the nothing, and from Te Kore came Te Po, the night. In that impenetrable darkness Rangi the sky father lay in the arms of Papa the Earth Mother. Then their children crawled through the space between their bodies for they longed for freedom, wind blowing over sharp hill tops and deep valleys and light to warm their pale bodies.

Then Tane-mahuta, mighty Father of all living things whom loved light and freedom, rose to his feet, summoning all his strength he pushed between his parents until the mighty bodies of Earth and Sky were torn apart. Angry winds screamed through the space between them. Tane and his brothers looked at the soft curves of their Mother and as light crept across land they saw a veil of silver mist that hung over her naked shoulders- the mist of grief for her lost husband. Tears shot fast from Rangis eyes. The showers of rain ran together in pools and streams across the body of Earth Mother.

Tane whom despite separating his parents, loved them very much and bought his children the trees and set then in the earth. He gifted Rangi his father a basket of shining ones from the sacred mountain of Maunganui . Tane placed five across the breast of his father and sprinkled his dark blue robe with the children of light, the shining ones. The basket he hung in the heavens, the basket of the milky way.

Isn't that a lovely story!

Some goodies I scored in the weekend. I'm always after vintage patterns so if anyone wants to get rid of any...yes please please!

And finally my Victorian ATC swap arrived from San Diego today. Exciting!!

Busy bees and Hibernation.

It has been a crazy busy time lately, the shorter days aren't helping with the lack of time feeling. Keeping up with the washing is a constant! I need a Harry Potter time turner so I can spend at least 90% of my time crafting! But hey enough about domesticity..Here is my belated pic of Elizabeth's beautiful card she sent as part of out swap. The hand stitching and antique crochet/ linen are my favourites. She also sent a lovely card with the most stunning photo of a rose from her garden. Truly a wonderful bag of special for my mail box.

I have also had a lot of fun making ATC's and have some exciting swaps coming up, including some goodies off to the green green land of Ireland! thanks to my newest foreign bolggy friend BT.

These have been made with some felted alpaca scraps, and then embellished with beads and stitching. I love using fibre with ATC's. The lower one is a work in progress.

Mrs Ed (right) is one of my personal favourites! She came as a result of a night where nothing was working right and my lovely lady beneath Mrs Ed was torn of accidentally, but then horsey seemed a pretty funny thing to do, and Ta Daa. well shes a bloody stunner! don't you think!! LOl

Last but not least are the ATC's my kids have been doing. (they have discovered that by sneaking into the 'studio' (laundry) with me showing an enthusiastic arty interest, means the can drag out bed time!!) It's all worth it though, and now they are very keen on swapping with someone. ..any offers please!

Its funny that I have never put any of my aromatherapy stuff on my blog, perhaps because I haven't met any fellow soap makers, But I think it deserves a little gloat as It seems to take up a lot of my time now that I'm committed to several regular markets. In fact I feel a soapy/ bloggy giveaway coming! Tee Hee. xoxoxoxxox

Tribute to Autumn

Autumn and spring are my two most favourite seasons. They are when I can reflect, immerse myself into myself...literally...it is like a breath between. A time to be grounded. To create. To be embraced with the Mother...admire her falling leaves and abundant fruits.
A time to nest.

INSPIRATION

&

FRIENDS.

I had a rather exciting day today. I have recently started sharing a stall at a new farmers market down the coast at the beautiful Te Horo. Our stall neighbours were a pair of the most wonderfull exciting and just plain lovely ladies who are total vintage thread, linen and china addicts. Their stall consists of beautiful hand made/ up-cycled goodies, wounderfull scrummy old things and a collection of art by one of the ladies who does the most amazing sketches while travelling the world, and then colours theses with a mixture of watercolours and inks....divine. I wish I could share them with you!

I did try to control my Leo spending urges but couldn't resist these beautiful tapestries which amazingly were finished but never made into anything, and this gorgeous fabric...and...and...and this amazing crazy lace piece which reminds me of a pair of boobs!
I thought I'd share this photo of the clouds from yesterday. My best mate Debs and I were enjoying a crafty day on the porch with 'tea in teacups' and some rather excited young admirers (of auntie Debbie of course!) and after walking in from saying my goodbyes, I was greeted by this lovely site!
